TADI Co-Edited Tianjin Municipal Accessibility Design Standard Successfully Passes Expert Review

Recently, an expert review meeting for the Tianjin Municipal Accessibility Design Standard (Draft for Expert Review), jointly co-edited by Tianjin Architecture Design Institute Co., Ltd. (TADI) and Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd., was successfully convened. Following a comprehensive evaluation, the expert review panel unanimously agreed that the Standard has passed the review.

The meeting was chaired by LIU Han of the Tianjin Green Building Promotion Center and brought together leading industry specialists and representatives from relevant authorities. The review panel comprised seven senior experts across key disciplines including urban planning, architecture, municipal engineering, and landscape architecture, ensuring a rigorous and well-rounded assessment process. Attendees also included YANG Ruifan, Director of the Standards & Design Division of the Tianjin Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, SHI Sheng (Second-Level Researcher), ZHOU Chao, Director of the Tianjin Disabled Persons’ Federation, as well as core members from all participating compiling organizations—marking a major milestone in the Standard’s development.

At the meeting, ZHU Tielin, Deputy General Manager and Chief Architect of TADI, delivered opening remarks on behalf of the lead co-editing organization. LIU Xingkun, Advisory Chief Architect of TADI, then provided a detailed introduction to the compilation process and the overall structure of the Standard. The expert panel subsequently conducted a meticulous, clause-by-clause review and held in-depth discussions on the technical content.

The panel concluded that the revised Standard clearly defines key terminology and technical requirements, providing a solid foundation for technical exchange and professional collaboration within the industry. It offers practical guidance for advancing Tianjin’s accessible built environment and improving urban accessibility facilities, and serves as an important reference for accessibility-related engineering design. The Standard is also expected to play a significant role in standardizing accessibility implementation and enhancing safety and convenience for persons with disabilities, older adults, and other groups with accessibility needs. Meeting representatives further recognized the Standard’s practical value and commended TADI for its professionalism and strong sense of responsibility throughout the co-editing process.

The compilation team has now initiated the refinement phase and will incorporate the experts’ feedback in detail, with the goal of producing the final submission draft for review and approval by the Tianjin Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development as soon as possible. The successful compilation and expert approval of this Standard not only demonstrate TADI’s technical capabilities in accessibility design, but also underscore its leading role in the standardization of public well-being and urban livelihood initiatives—further strengthening its influence within the industry. Going forward, TADI will continue to advance accessibility design and support the implementation of the Standard, contributing professional expertise to the continuous improvement of Tianjin’s accessible environment.
